Post-It + Stop Motion = Mind Blown

My sister showed me this video awhile back but I just came across it again today. Makes me look at my stack of colored post-it notes in a whole new way. Enjoy!

James Castle

Last week, over on A Fine Little Day, I  read about self-taught artist, James Castle. I was immediately fascinated by his work, reminiscent of Henry Darger. (Side note: Rance got me this book for V-Day. Awesome!) A quick search on Google resulted in a visit to the Berkeley Art Museum on Friday night (lucky me!). James Castle: A Retrospective is on exhibit there until April 25th.

A shout out to Camilla Engman and Gothenburg

The new Camilla Engman book and all the goodies that came with it!

I pre-ordered the Uppercase Gallery book about one of favorite artist/illustrators, Camilla Engman a couple of months ago…and it arrived in the mail yesterday! Along with the book came a bunch of little goodies. A little booklet about Morran (Camilla’s dog), 4 postcards, a 2-color print for those who pre-ordered, and a  cool little travel tag. I think I first came across her work a couple of years ago, and like most people, instantly fell in love with her playful, lighthearted drawings, as well as her strange characters.

Camilla is based out of Gothenburg, Sweden. And so many of my other loves originate from there…especially when it comes to music. To name a few: Jens Lekman, Air France, jj, The Tough, Jose Gonzales, The Knife, and Little Dragon.

Lil’ Viv

Last week I finished this baby shower invitation and pillow for Lila’s friend Molly. She’s having a little baby girl and naming her Vivian (Lil’ Viv)…so cute! Lila picked up the pillow on Wednesday and I forgot to take pictures of the pillow when it was completely finished…but I do have a work-in-progress shot of it.

AND…last night I went to see Where the Wild Things Are with my friend Ben. We saw it on an IMAX screen and it was awesome. I now want to build a fort like the one they had in the movie and I want my own monster friends, especially Carol!  The film has a cool blog and you can check it out here.

Hanky invitations…what the what?!

The first thing I do every morning after I check my work email is read Grace Bonny’s blog, Design*Sponge.  It’s a great blog full of inspiration, tips, diy projects and all things cool. Today’s post details her April wedding in Savannah, Georgia…can you say fairy tale wedding? Every single thing was impressive but what blew me away were her invitations! I used to work at an invitation boutique but never have I seen anything more clever and unique…silk screened invitations on vintage handkerchiefs!
